FINES
October 29, 2007 | 06:55 PM

When did the incident at the Hyatt happen where there were 25 counts at $2,000 each and one death...and the Hyatt still going strong. Still overserving and plenty of underagers at Spats. And when there are fights unstairs at Spats, which there have been PLENTY...what are their reprocutions? Fined? I remember in the past 6 months Spats was even closed for a weekend or two to let things cool off after people having to be tazed outside and near all of Maui PD had to be there just to escort the crowd off the property. I would like to be reminded what happened then?

I say this because Paradice Bluz got nabbed for two guys fighting upstairs AFTER BEING ESCORTED out and still got fined. $4,000?

And what is with that. Was it Bluz' resposibility to get them tucked in safely too? The LC goes way too far with picking and choosing what bars/hot spots to put under the gun. One week they are chit-chatting with you, the next week writing you a ticket. Wait...they must clearly have a quota to meet. haha

And what exactly do they do with this money they get for fines? Income? Christmas bonuses? Or are is the LC out helping the community BEYOND trying to bust bars?

All this talk about white envelopes in last weeks comment area...now notice the amount of money they rake in ON TOP of that for fines.

Pertaining to this issue, I agree with being represented by an attorney. Maybe one can run an 'LC Special' and start taking them out...one case at a time.
