Did I read the same article as you, Frustrated? I see no discrepancy with what you're saying and what Rob wrote. You folks in Ma'alaea worked very, very hard with Michele Anderson and Mazie Hirono to get this grant -- which is supposed to be the first step in getting a series of grants to build a sewage plant.

But Dept. of Env. Mngmnt is sabotaging your efforts by awarding the contract to someone who wants to "study" the reef situation instead of develop the plan that will lead to the next grant which should be the actual design of the facility.

I share your frustration that this Federal money is being frittered away in an attempt to cover the County's ass in the lawsuit that Dowling filed against them for the South Maui injection wells.

We are all on the same side -- in fact I bet all but a handful of Maui residents are on the same side - let's move ahead decisively with getting rid of injection wells.
