thank god for something different June 29, 2010 | 03:10 PM
I don"t smoke pot and I am well travelled so my musical tasted have naturally ventured beyond "island music". Thanks Anu for this article. I went to Mulligans to catch the show and these guys rocked just like you said. It is hard to believe that sound came from just two guys. And, I spoke to them after the show and apparently both have pretty impressive musical resumes both here and on the mainland. We do have awesome talent on Maui and this is not an island for failed musicians. (maybe just closed minded listeners who have pigeon holed themselves into thinking they are betraying their people by listening to anything other than island music). Anyway, not all local people are musically narrow minded and I hope we can break free of that stereotype. Loved the article, you were right about these guys, can't wait for the next show. Oh and everyone who loses battle of the bands thinks the contest was fixed. I am sure those readers are just pissed they lost so they need to make some excuse about how the contest was "fixed". I have heard that about a hundred times before... even when Erin Smith was winning all the battle of the bands.. everyone said it was fixed. People just need to accept the fact that they lost and get back into the practice room and stop bitchin.
