Abolish all Non-Hawaiian Activities in Lahaina? November 30, 2007 | 05:26 PM
Just wondering where this will all end...first Halloween will be abolished because it is "some new thing from the mainland," says Patty Nishiyama, spokeswoman for Na Kupuna (The Elders) O Maui. What's next...will they outlaw Fourth of July? Thanksgiving? Christmas? Valentine's Day? Labor Day? Memorial Day? Veteran's Day? Even fireworks and New Years will be banned, because it is "some new thing from the mainland." While they are at it, they should close down Burger King and Hard Rock Cafe on Front Street, as it "betrays Lahaina's history "and dishonors where the Hawaiians "ali'i was aborn and raised."
