Aw, hell, Anu--there's more to life than going out! And you've shown that, brilliantly. Honestly, writing about your "late-night exploits" can be a lot like actually going out at night on Maui: overrated, at times; other times, filled with happy surprises via interesting people, funny observations, profound conversations, and loads of fantastic music and food where you'd least expect it. So just keep that in mind next time you feel daunted by the task of returning (or writing about returning) to the nightlife. There's always lots going on beneath that guise. ;-)
You are a lovely writer--thoughtful, brave, persistently curious, with a strong spirit and a terrific sense of humor. I do not "know" you, but I can tell that you are well-loved and supported, Anu, and I know you will go far--with your writing and in life, with whatever you do.
