Emergency Landing November 08, 2011 | 10:06 AM
I don't remember the year, early 1990s. We went on a Sunshine Helicopter on Maui. They had just gotten brand new black helicopters, so we thought they would be the safest. It was a rainy day, but they said we would fly anyway. We had four of us and they added a fifth (which made it so most of our group couldn't see and they were to crowded). Our pilot's name was Jacob I believe. We had just flown over the Veil of Tears and he made a quick turn and told us to prepare for emergency landing. He immediately got us over to a field (where there was a famous grave site) and did a great job landing. They would not let us keep the video we had ordered. They cancelled flights for the rest of the day.I would have like to have had the video-We would never have sued the company, but I am sure that was their fear. People heard us land and commented that they new something bad was happening. I would like to have had that record to know what happened-but I don't believe it was ever documented. I believe it was hidden. That is the part that bothers me.
