Maui Turning Brown?

Is it my imagination or is Maui now less green and lush than it was 20 years ago? Is it dryer on the coastal side between Kehei and Lahaina? Is this another affect of the accelerated climate change occurring globally?
What is the difference in vegetation and growth from what I see now and what was prevalent back in the 1990's?
