One hectare of noninvasive bamboo can absorb twelve tons of carbon dioxide in a year. We can build houses with structurally certified bamboo grown right here in Hawaii. Bamboo can prevent runoff and mitigate erosion. It is a good place to start especially with Maui's water woes as it has been known to double aquifer intake
