Wonderful Bamboo May 10, 2008 | 07:26 PM
Mahalo Rob for another great issue. Bamboo furniture, floors, clothes, food, paper, landscaping the list goes on and on. Bamboo cleans our air, prevents erosion, runoff and increases aquifer intake. What is not to love? But I go to the local bookstores both Borders and Barnes and Noble they have no books to read up on this spectacular plant. Where can we learn more? Are there classes at the University or community college devoted to how to grow or work with bamboo? What does Rich mean by bamboo culture and how can we learn more about it or help to make certification a reality here on Maui? Is there any construction workers willing to learn to work with this timber here on Maui because it is the future and the future is now.
