Good Luck, Keep it going!
November 23, 2008 | 03:09 PM

We moved from Lahaina, maui last year to California so I could go to law school, my goal in ripping my children away from their birthplace, and the beautiful ocean was that they would get to go to great public schools and still surf. We are so lucky to have found that in La Jolla, CA. My son surfed in Kim Ball's Hi tech Launiopoko Contest, wrestled for Napilli with Kim Ball is now surfing for the Muirlands Middle School Surf team. It is so sad that my Hawaiian son had to move to Cali to be able to achieve Kim Ball's goal. Lahaina Intermediate is a D- rated school> and has no surf team, Muirlands Middle School A rated> has a surf team. Its the students testing that pulls their schools scores up, kids do well when motivated and rewarded. Maui DOE it is time to wake up..give kids motivation and positive support and the the schools will benefitted in multiple ways.
