Not just covers ruining it

As a former sound engineer for local clubs on Maui, I have to beleive that the DJs are also a problem for original music. It's so much easier(and possibly cheaper) for club owners to hire DJs instead of an original live band. From my experience they destroy speakers and subs, especially on wensdays, and leave systems halfassed for the bands that do play over the weekends. I understand that everyone is trying to make a living there, but have you heard anything original coming from them? It's all prerecorded music that they play off their laptops. I noticed that nobody brought up this point and wanted to throw it out there. They are definately one of the reasons why I lost respect for the Maui music scene.
