Comparing Ramen to Saimin is just wrong May 25, 2009 | 02:05 AM
Not that Ramen-ya ramen is all that great, but it's certainly better than saimin. The broth and noodles are most important and saimin just doesn't cut it with shoyu and MSG as the soup base and a lousy mushy unstired pack of noodles dropped in. After 26 years in Hawaii, I've never once eaten a saimin that came anything close to a real ramen, not even close to the so-so ramen that's available in Hawaii.
