Big move up the chart this week for Dowling Co. And why not? The land developer is the beneficiary of a subdued but very dignified half-page ad that ran in last week's Maui News. "Green Building Services, nationally recognized experts in sustainable building, congratulates Dowling Company on their newly retrofitted offices," read the ad. See, Dowling's Wailuku headquarters (pictured above) has gone green! They've installed dual-flush toilets, more energy efficient light bulbs and even environmentally friendly cleaning supplies. Sure, the company is still reviled by environmentalists for its big condo project in Makena that will benefit only the wealthiest of the wealthy. But you don't put stuff like that in an ad touting how you're "leading the way in responsible solutions." MTW
