Both Maui Land & Pine and Alexander & Baldwin drop a notch this week on news that their respective representatives on the Maui General Plan Advisory Committee—that would be MLP Vice President Warren Suzuki and A&B consultant Mercer "Chubby" Vicens—got shut down by their colleagues during their June 7 meeting. That's when the panel voted 13 to 9 to send a letter to the County Council urging what amounts to a complete and total moratorium on new development projects until they've finished thrashing out the General Plan. According to the June 9 Maui News account of the meeting, Suzuki took the blow especially hard and actually walked out on his colleagues in disgust. MTW
