Let meEexpand on a couple things in your article ("The Reddest of Them All," June 7, 2007):
1) Mr. Newt Gingrich's schedule was delayed when the limousine driver could not find the Dunes at Maui Lani and the former speaker arrived 30 minutes late.
2) The reception at the Dunes was sponsored by the Maui County Republican Party (MCRP), not the Maui League of Republican Women.

The family of Ava Heller would like to send out an enormous thank you to everyone who participated in the benefit for our daughter on June 1. We will forever be grateful to our amazing friends Flo, Billy, Paul and Darlene Ford who took time out of their lives to work so hard to make the benefit a success.
We would like to thank Tom Hecock and all the staff at Hecock's Restaurant for their continued support of Ava. Thank you to Mike Carroll and The Booze Brada's, and DJ Nate for rocking the house for Ava. Thank you to all the individuals and businesses who donated the incredible items for the raffle and auction. Thank you to everyone who came to the benefit to show their support and to everyone who couldn't be there but made an effort to donate. Thank you also to Maui Time Weekly and The Maui News for the benefit announcements in their papers. The generosity of the community once again is overwhelming; we truly believe that we are blessed to be surrounded by so many wonderful people. Thank you to everyone from the bottom of our hearts. Love and kindness will always be remembered!

SOMEBODY'S LISTENING!
I wanted to comment about "Beyond the Ink" but couldn't find the email so I hope you don't mind me writing to you directly.
I love the podcast! It's a great addition to your mag and I enjoy hearing the voices of "The Maui Times" (ha! just kidding) and I enjoy the "behind the scenes" look at the paper. I am a landscaper and filmmaker and spend at least seven hours a day listening to podcasts, so I listen to A LOT of podcasts and your podcast is one of my favorites. I anxiously look forward to the latest podcast every week.
I don't always have time to read your paper so the podcast is great for me to keep up on what's going on and I love listening to a podcast about Maui. There's not many of them out there. Sad to say, I didn't know that [Mana'o Radio founder] Barry Shannon died until I downloaded back issues of your podcast, about three weeks ago.
I hope you guys keep up the podcast. So many of them come and go and I don't want to see your show in the podcast graveyard. Keep up the great work. We are listening!
Suggestions:
A longer show.
EAn audio segment of a reading of an "Eh Brah."
A reading of emails critical to the paper so you have a chance to explain yourself and critical emails can be kinda funny.
That's it. Again, I love the show and am very thankful for your time and efforts.
