Remove ImagesPicks of the Week Clean your Beach Saturday (Sept. 8) Noon, at Kamehameha Iki Park, Front Street Lahaina September 06, 2007 [VOLUNTEER] We all know Maui no ka oi. We've got the best people, the best weather and all the best beaches. But sometimes those beaches need a little help to stay pristine. So it's time to lend a hand at the Third Annual Lahaina Town Beach Clean Up, sponsored in part by the Santa Fe Cantina, the Kokua Hawai`i Foundation and more. Now you might think there are more relaxing or enjoyable things to do on a Saturday afternoon, but I beg to differ. This year there'll be tons of giveaways from local retailers and great food donated from some of Maui's best restaurants, live music and at sundown–when the beaches and streets from Puamana to Mala are cleaned up and looking fine–a screening of Quicksilver's new flick Young Guns 3 will be projected onto a 14-foot video screen, so you'll see lots of Maui surf action. Oh, and they're also showing The Goonies! Yeah, The Goonies! Lahaina Skate Company will be on hand to take all of you recyclables (read: that mound of beer cans in your back yard) off your hands, and they'll put the profits from the redemption towards a future skate park project in Lahaina. So come down with your crew (and the evidence of last week's rager) and spend a fun day at the beach, get yummy local grinds, cool free stuff and feel good about pitching in to keep Lahaina clean.
