It's been said many times that The Daily Show With Jon Stewart is a better source for news and commentary than the "real" news shows. That's only partially accurate. While Stewart nails politicians and talking heads brilliantly during pre-written bits, he usually gives them the kid glove treatment when they're in-studio. But he was at his razor-tongued best during a recent skewering of cable network CNBC's pre-meltdown economic coverage—their pie-in-the-sky overconfidence, their shameless softball interviews with CEOs, their claims that "the market just won't quit no mater how poorly actual companies are doing." Perhaps the best moment is Stewart's snarky summation: "If I had only followed CNBC's advice, I'd have $1 million today—provided I'd started with $100 million."
