Remove Images Picks of the Week Maui Massive feat. Katchafire by Kate Bradshaw July 16, 2009 Massive attack Saturday (Jul. 18), 3pm, War Memorial Stadium, Kahului Well, whattaya know? New Zealand-based reggae band Katchafire is coming back to Maui to perform in Maui Massive, a show that will also feature appearances by Ooklah the Moc, Natural Vibrations, Maoli and Anuhea. You know what that means. It means that I get to talk about how awesome New Zealand is. Katchafire played Wellington while I was living there. My dreadlocked flatmate went to check it out and returned to our Wai-Te-Ata Road flat glazey-eyed and enthused. I didn't go. I was in my room scrutinizing  Heart of Darkness with the help of a sixer of Speight's Distinction Ale. I was writing an essay on Conrad's use of the Manichean allegory as a plot device for my Postcolonial Literature and Theory class, a course that kicked my ass and blew my mind. I got an A Ð straight As, in fact Ð but I missed out on a good show. In any case, this will obviously be one of Maui's top summer shows.
