Maui is all about contrasts: warm, surf-kissed beaches and chilly, towering volcanoes; barren craters and lush rainforests; bustling tourist havens and isolated local enclaves. So it is with fashion, as T-shirts and slippers stand side-by-side with chic dresses and designer jewelry. For the 2010 Fashion Issue, we tried to capture this eclectic spirit, letting a group of young people loose on the posh Westin Resort to hang out, have fun and showcase some of the unique clothes and accessories that define Maui style—in all its contrasts.
