Remove ImagesSpin Cycle Overrating Reagan March 24, 2011 ![]() WHEREAS, after campaigning on a platform of debt reduction, President Reagan more than tripled the national deficit during his two terms; and WHEREAS high-ranking Reagan Administration officials illegally sold weapons to Iran to fund Central American guerrillas; and WHEREAS President Reagan didn't publicly utter the word "AIDS" until 1987, more than five years after the epidemic began; and WHEREAS even President Reagan's most vaunted accomplishment—the single-handed defeat of the Soviet Union—is at best a gross exaggeration and at worst an outright fabrication, BE IT RESOLVED that the twenty-sixth legislature of the state of Hawaii has better things to do than further fetishize one of the most overrated politicians in modern history. |
