Remove Images Food & Drink What To Eat On Halloween by Jen Russo October 27, 2011 Halloween is the one time in the year that I start hearing Mom's meal planning start with eyeballs and witches brews. Chefs around town are following suit by making good times at their tables out of odd and rude Halloween-themed goodies for us to eat. You don't even have to dress up to enjoy these, though if you don't wear a costume or two over this Halloween weekend then you're missing the point. Scary Face Pancakes: IHOP is jumping into the Halloween fun with their Trick-Or-Treat all-you-can-eat pancakes and Scary Face pancakes. What's more, on Friday Oct. 28, the design-your-own Scary Face pancake is free to all kids 12 and under, from 7 am to 10 pm. Face Painting and Free kids meals: On Friday, Oct. 28 you can get one free keiki meal with a candy dessert with each purchase of an adult meal 3-9pm at the Kahului Ale House. Put the finishing touches on your costume with free face painting by Rachel Deboer (for keiki and kupuna alike) with meal purchase (4-6pm). There will also be family-friendly Halloween movie screenings, monster and pumpkin-themed how-to-draw-it sheets designed by Ale House owner Stacy Sundins and free balloons. 355 E. The Birken and Bailey's 4th Annual Halloween Pawty is the place to be for pets who love to dress up on Halloween and show their fluff off. (Free nail trims for pets in costume!) Festivities begin at 3pm on Saturday, Oct. 29. Azeka Shopping Center, 1279 S. Kihei Road, 808-875-9805. Spine Chilling Supper: The dining room is open at Vineyard Food Company. If you haven't seen it yet, this Saturday night's First Annual Halloween Costume Party could be your most sinister moment to eat there. Zombie pupus of mozzarella eyeballs and creepy sea shrimp are already making me drool. Chef Giles wins the prize for best spooky menu: spiderweb brie en croute, flame throwing bat wings and roasted flesh with warm drippings are just highlights of his devilish delights for the evening. The cost is $24 for adults, $8 for 2-12 year olds and kids under 2 are free. Ghost stories, apple bobbing and mummy wrapping are some of the fun you can get into, and the prizes are great, too. Spooky Stories and Healthy Treats: Read Aloud America is hosting a special event for keiki pre-k to second grade at Whole Foods Market starting at 3pm on Monday, Oct. 31. It's part of the Recycle Your Change fundraiser for Read Aloud America (for more info go to mauifeed.com). A costume contest and goody bags loaded with wholesome treats can be expected. 70 E.
