Gianotto’s- Address: 2050 Main St., Wailuku, Phone: 244-8282 You can go to any pizza place in the world and order a Philly Cheesesteak, but it just never quite hits the taste buds the way an authentic Philly Cheesesteak does...unless of course you’re eating at Gianotto’s. See, Dave, the owner hails from the east coast state of New Jersey. Being a next-door neighbor of Philadelphia, Dave knows his stuff and he most definitely knows what it takes to make a real cheesesteak. Believe it or not, the key ingredient to a perfect Philly cheesesteak is simply the roll. This is where most shops go wrong. Not Gianotto’s though seeing as how Dave has his rolls shipped all the way out to Wailuku from a very popular bakery, Amoroso’s, which is located in Philadelphia. Talk about dedication! So, if you’re in the mood for a Philly Cheesesteak and don’t have the money to pay for the crazy airfare prices, head over to Gianotto’s and order a Philly with mushrooms and onions. You’ll sound like you just walked out of South Philly. Besides, whose opinion is better to trust than mine? I know what I’m talking about here. After all, I’m a girl from Philly.
