Maui Restaurants, Food and Drink Food & DrinkMarch 14, 2012 | 02:04 PMby Jen RussoSitting in Bangkok Cuisine on Dairy Road, I'm eating some of the best roast duck on the island with Chef Zouhair Zairi and his wife Yuka Kashiwabara. Zairi is fresh off his Japan and U.S. tour, in which he promoted his new cookbook, Moorish Fusion Cuisine: Conquering the New World. Chef ZZ, as he's also known, conceptualized and produced the book in his kitchen on the slopes of Haleakala but says he created the book not just for Maui, but for the world. He wants to teach people "21st century cuisine," he says, which is nothing short of a new way to eat. |
Food & Drink 2March 14, 2012 | 02:08 PMby Jen RussoDESCRIPTION: The Wailea outpost of Pita Paradise is a grown-up version of its Kihei Kalama Village predecessor. There's outdoor alfresco dining on a sophisticated lanai, or behind closed doors you can enjoy the climate controlled interior. High seats at the fully-equipped-to-give-you-a-buzz bar are good vantage points to embrace your inner Dionysus, the Greek god of wine and partying. Warm colors, murals and archways hint at modern Grecian themes, but all you need is one whiff from the kitchen to know the Hestia has blessed this place. |
