Thanks for taking the time to publish Pauline Fiene's response to the proposed Olowalu development ("Reef at Risk," May 3, 2012). If we don't work to protect the best parts of island the inevitable further development of Maui is likely to cost us dearly.

Eh BrahMay 16, 2012 | 09:28 AMThis goes out to that old fart with the massive sense of entitlement who parks his van in the Baldwin Beach lifeguard spot, while the rest of us respect the law and leave it free for the lifeguards and their emergency vehicles. Oh, and I noticed that right after you let your white, ugly dog crap our beach, you went to Mana foods and again parked right at the door where the blue lines and "no parking" sign. Have you ever thought of just leaving Maui? Perhaps you might try New York, where they already have plenty of assholes like you. And please take your dog crap with you.

Whether or not you actually want to play the role of trusted confidante, this week you'll find yourself thrust into those shoes, anyway. Be worthy of them. Shattering someone's trust by throwing them under the bus, blabbing their secrets, or otherwise skipping out on the situation would be something you'd regret, later, even if it feels like the easy way out of an uncomfortable situation right now. Stick it out, give advice when asked for it, and be the compassionate shoulder they expect you to be. Even if those shoes pinch a little now, they'll soon fit like a glove, and you'll be glad you were able to come through. |
