Art in Action
by Saturday, 7 p.m. at the Green House, Haiku
March 10, 2005
Located in green, vibrant and lush Haiku, The Green House exudes the unique artistic interaction that exemplifies the community. The large green house is poised on a hilltop alongside a deep gulch containing a thick bamboo forest and bird sanctuary. The serenity and powerful mana is inspiring, to say the least.
I walked inside one recent, moonlit night, hearing little more than the rustling of bamboo. The big green front deck seems to welcome visitors into its main display room. There sit colorful and provocative art installations, paintings and the enthusiastic artists who created them.
It is to be an eclectic place for the arts, a home for local artists to display and market their talents. There will be performances, original paintings, hand-blown glass and sculpture.
Put another way, The Green House Project creators hope to show the connection between art and the Earth’s own creative energies. And that includes the culinary arts—David Wilcox will prepare elaborate cuisine using organic and local ingredients for The Green House Project’s events. The goal is to have a mix of people and food from all over the world at the same table.
A $10 minimum donation includes an evening with the art show, a sushi reception, interactive multimedia, poetry and music. Call 572-2794 to RSVP or for directions.
