AVAIL
“FRONT PORCH STORIES”

March 10, 2005

When I was a kid, my mom would leave me at my grandparents’ house from time to time. My grandpappy would welcome me from his rockin’ chair on the front porch with his “summer tooth” smile (some teeth here, some teeth there) and a glass pitcher of freshly squeezed lemonade. We’d pass the time by swapping stories. He’d tell details of the trials and tribulations of owning a dairy farm. I’d tell him how I fooled around with a girl on the school bus. We’d both giggle, but then he’d slap my head with a horseshoe or anything he could get his hands on. Don’t worry, my grandpappy didn’t hit me that hard—well, not as nearly as hard as Avail’s Front Porch Stories. Maybe some stories are best untold. —Fat Wreck Records 2002 [$AYFOO]
