The following tale is taken straight from official complaints and inspection reports on file with the State of Hawaii Department of Health Food Safety office.

Little Caesars Pizza Station

Date:

Little Caesars has meatballs? Well, if it sounds too good to be true then it probably is. For one customer at K-Mart’s pizza station, a cheap meal of meatballs, sauce and a side salad, eaten at 4 p.m. later went terribly wrong. By 8 p.m. that night the customer claimed to have experienced nausea, the no-good, low-down cramps and vomiting. This led the customer to complain to the Health Dept. about the possibility of contracting a food borne illness. But a June 25 inspection—three days after the incident in question—didn’t find any food contamination. But the inspector did learn that the meatballs are frozen and then baked while the meat sauce is heated directly out of the can. The salads are fresh daily and ingredients have a holding time of no more than two days. Employees use gloves in all preparation and inspectors found no open sores on any employee’s fingers. No other complaints were filed. Praise from Caesar.
