[FILM] Duma is an awesomely heartwarming story about a boy named Xan and an abadoned cheetah cub he befriends and names Duma. Taking place in the gorgeous landscapes of South Africa, Duma is mainly an entertaining adventure tale. But the film’s also ties in mature themes like death, the cycle of life, the sacrifices of family, and “love” meaning sometimes having to set it free. Sigh. A cool, cool movie. Directed by Carroll Ballard and starring Hope Davis, Campbell Scott and newcomer Alex Michaeletos. Rated PG. 100 min. $10. [SAMANTHA CAMPOS]
