Laughter Yoga is No Joke
Friday-Saturday, Lahaina and Haiku
March 30, 2006
[HEALTH] According to George W. Bush, “If we don’t succeed, we run the risk of failure.” That’s funny and tragic all at the same time. Research has shown that young children laugh an average of 300-400 times a day, versus an average of about 15 laughs for adults. The Dubya quote may have something to do with this… Be it politics, family, or just the daily grind, we adults aren’t laughing nearly as much as we should be. Actually, I laugh a lot. Maybe I’m not an adult. Okay, the point is that Dr. Madan Kataria, the merry medicine man from India, the Guru of Giggling (London Times), now brings the Laughter Club concept to Maui. Following his appearance, our own local Stuart Alexander will be certified as a yoga leader and will begin an Aloha ha Laughter Club that will meet weekly in Lahaina. And there’ll be free public awareness seminars: Friday, 6: 30-8:30 p.m., Lahaina Civic Center, and Saturday, 12-2 p.m., The Studio Maui, Haiku.
