Not much until near the end when Councilwoman Gladys Baisa offers a
“communication” she received from Blue Earth Biofuels LLC. It’s a
Powerpoint presentation full of phrases like “preliminary Capital
Commitments” and “Long-term synergies”–basically a bunch of information
few on the Council, much less members of the public, would probably
understand in the first place. Though here’s something: Blue Earth says
it’s working with the Natural Resources Defense Council to “develop a
policy addressing” the fact that palm oil tends to come about through
deforestation. Good luck, rainforests.

Oh boy! There’s just one appeal today, but it’s a doozy: the board
has to determine a hearings’ officer to preside over a Planning
Department Notice of Violation given to AzaleaCommunicationLLC “for a
chain link fence adjacent to public open space, readily visible to the
public, whereby it is prohibited by the Wailuku Redevelopment Area
Design Guidelines.”The property in question is at 2086 MainSt. in
Wailuku if you want to go gawk for yourself.
