[CONTEMPORARY HAWAIIAN] I’ve been to monster concerts, stood in line for months in advance to see the greats at mainland amphitheaters packing people like cattle. But we all know the greatest way to see live music: the secret club show. This is when some big name decides to play a small club last minute. It’s a way for them to play casually, to bounce their new stuff off the smaller, more intimate crowd, a way for them to interact without the screaming masses… It’s been happening at Charley’s a lot more often these days—spurred in part by Willie Nelson’s impromptu visits I’m sure. Oh, but wait… if I say something, then it won’t be a secret anymore, will it? How ‘bout I’ll just give you a clue then… okay, then… this week’s “secret” performer rhymes with “Rhimabukuro.” Tickets: $22/$25.
