[PUBLIC HEARING] You asked for it—this Monday the Maui County Land Use Committee will hold an actual public hearing during evening hours (in your face LUC Chairman Mike Molina!) on the proposal to build 1,400 luxury homes and a private, exclusive golf course on 670 acres of Wailea that include a huge swath of hitherto untouched native dryland forest that’s one of the most endangered ecosystems on earth. Finally, here’s a chance for people who have to work during the day to hear testimony and perhaps even put their views on the public record. Maybe even someone will ask Chairman Molina why it took him so damn long to hold a nighttime hearing on the biggest development project to hit South Maui in decades.
