Jct: Coconuts, for sure, would be good backing. In 1999, I paid for 39/40 nights in Europe with an IOU for a night back in Canada worth 5 Hours. I'll take your Maui Money in Canada if you'll take my IOU in Maui too.
Of course, your own poker chips are backed up by whatever you have.
