It Could have been so different

How much respect do you think the Japanese would have given Hawaiians at all if they were successful in their imperial campaign.

Be glad you're not speaking Japanese and can actually practice your culture. Hawaii would not have been left alone for long if the US didn't have control of it. In WWII, it was far too much of a strategic location.

Any other country wouldn't given a crap about Hawaiian culture at all and wold have simply quashed any talk of a "Reinstated Hawaiian Government". Worse yet, this kind of talk would be likely to get you executed for subversion.

Be lucky the islands are part of a country that allows Hawaii to operate as its own state largely with it's own laws.

One thing that always confused me is that if enough Hawaiians actually cared about these issues, they could get more politicians elected to the state and local positions to really make a difference. Instead, they stand as obstructionists who want to stop every change that is proposed to happen in any way they can.

Get some balls, get a candidate, and effing motivate your people, and stop effing complaining about shit that happened a lifetime ago that can't be changed from the outside.
