Forgetting their heritage

My studies of ancient Hawai'ian activities during the Makahiki season reveal a time of celebrations honoring the spirit of harvest, Lono.Sporting events, dancing wearing fearsome or funny masks, hula, with lascivious movements meant to encourage honoring Lono, a fertility god, and sometimes these events would turn into all out orgies! Yes God forbid the missionary mentality of our pesent day "kupuna" acknowledge that this went on! Many cultures of the world celebrated in the fall months of the year, as the seasons wane into a time of withdrawal, get out there for one last blast!
