The vacation rental situation is all about money. As a fortunate person to own a home own Maui, do you realize how much money I could make if I turned my home into an illegal vacation rental? I could retire, literally-I have a small Ohana unit which I rent for 800 a month, which helps. But, had I gotten in on the Vacation Rental Frenzy, which many suggested, my little apartment could yeild 3000 a month! Very inticing. If I chose to live in the main house, rent it, and live in my apartment, I would make closer to 6000 a month! Now someone with more units, they're making a small fortune! But at what expense? In conclusion, it really is all about money. But Maui still NO KA OI!
