Aside from the fact that we can all use less fuel if we get away from the fast pace of life that has established in modern times, how about looking into kukui oil for fuel? If you can burn that nut, squeeze the oil right out of it, and though it's our State tree, it is considered invasive (80% of the nuts germinate) we should start some way of making barrels of oil out of that locally grown and plentiful stuff! We could start a hui of folks with the wherewithall to collect nuts, bring 'em to a person who gets the oil out, they make sure it gets to the one who markets it, and we could have many local people who benefit from our own little OPEC. Hey, I may just be the one who ends up being the kukui-nut tycoon!
