Music is the Language of Life/Riddim is the translator
September 10, 2008 | 01:33 PM

I met J when we were in Iraq. We vibed together there and connected again when we were back in the Mid-East a year and a half later. The brother is blessed. On the subject of a Christian doing reggae, everyone needs to understand the common thread in all Spiritualities. The Bible states it well, "Let Your Light So Shine...", hence the title Answer Your Calling. And nearly all music is some offshot of the Blues even before it was called The Blues. If you play with feeling (Son House, Ray Charles) inject some spirit and soul (Mahalia J, Santana) insert a message (Marley, Mayfield), create images (John Williams, Alabama), release the creativity (Hendrix, Timbaland) and in all this enjoy and allow the music to guide you (SRV, Puente) someone, no matter what their native language, will hear your message. The rhythm translates it to style. JAlo, continue on Blessed and Prosperous. (Hey man teach me some more chords too)
