Palm Biodiesel - Oct 17, 2008
October 16, 2008 | 08:18 PM Prices of Palm Biodiesel from South East Asia (SEA) would land in Hawai at $150 per Barrel basis todays price - in fact biodiesel prices in SEA are now below the price of diesel. Soy based biodiesel could also be an option from US or Argentina. There are other options also like FAME from Singapore that would be a mixture of different type of biodiesel made from by-product sof the palm industry. Why are these options not being considered? Today world palm oil production already exceeds World Soya Oil production. It is time that consumers and environmentalist take another look at the trade offs as clearly palm oil is the highest yielding oil crop per acre and requires the least fertilizers and pesticides. RSPO has put in place guidelines that are more comprehensive than the ones existing in Soya production. Brgds. Henri J. Bardon |
