Tavares Appointments to Water Board BAD

Tavares appointed three Big Ag proponents to the water board. I urge everyone to turn out for the Maui County Council meeting on Tuesday to oppose these appointments unless you want our water to be given over to private companies and pulled from the streams and taro fields.

Particularly nasty is Don Gerbig who ranted against EarthJustice for taking EMI and Wailuku Water Co. to court to restore the constitutionally guaranteed water to the residents of Maui.

The Hawai'i constitution guarantees that water belongs to the people and sets a priority for it. Private water companies can never OWN the water they are selling.
