The local government and the it's people need to find better ways and means of spending these atrocious amounts of money on things with more intrinsic value... like conservation, environmental impact, energy independence, etc. It seems these are far more valuable uses of the taxpayers money. They have an end to the means. In theory a "super ferry" is a "good idea, but when you come right down to it, in the end it wastes time, money, resources and has detrimental impacts on the environment. Scrap the "program", absorb the costs, and do things like clean up Kamilo beach, put it towards more wind and solar (two of the most abundant natural Hawaiian resources!) research, investigate alternative fuel sources, improve wildlife conservation, etc. Put bad money to good things and make the Islands an even better place.
